Octogenarian Freddie Redd, one of the "greatest unsung ivory-huntin' heroes of jazz"(All About Jazz), displays the remarkable piano techniques and improvisational talent that created the original and unforgettable score for Jack Gelber's searing 1959 play "The Connection." Freddie Redd, piano; Brad Linde, tenor saxophone; Chris Byars, alto saxophone; Ari Roland, bass; Stefan Schatz, drums.

Tonight's performance will be hosted by WBGO's Music Director Gary Walker and host of "Morning Jazz."
