Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis
The Music of Kurt Weill
Thu-Sat, Mar 3-5, 8:00pm
Rose Theater
As a young composer of contemporary classical and theater music in 1920s Berlin, Kurt Weill dreamed of working with the great American jazz musicians. In the 110 years since his birth, Weill's beautiful melodies and jazzy harmonies have been played by everyone from Louis Armstrong ("Mack the Knife") to Gil Evans ("My Ship”). The incomparable vocalist (and Weill interpreter) Ute Lemper, along with Warren Wolf on vibes, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis will show how Weill's songs belong to the jazz world as much as to Broadway, film, and the concert hall.
This concert is available as part of our Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra subscription package.
