Pablo Aslan: Tango Salon

Note: This event took place on 3/26/2010.
For current programming, visit our Calendar of Events.

From a night in Tunisia to 'la noche de Buenos Aires', bassist, bandleader and composer Pablo Aslan has spent a rewarding career showing that North American jazz can be combined with Argentine tango - and beautifully so. His multi-talented ensemble, joined by the extraordinary Paquito D'Rivera, prove that jazzmen can play the intricate rhythms of the tango, while the major musicians of Argentina can get down with the blues. Performers include Gustavo Bergalli on trumpet, Nicolas Ledesma and Abel Rogantini on piano, Daniel Piazzolla on drums, and Raul Jaurena and Michael Zisman on bandonéon.  Tango dancers Junior Cervila and Natalia Royo complete the ensemble.  Experience the history of this fascinating music through one of its all time masters.

Pre-Concert Discussion, 7pm, 3/26 ONLY
Join Pablo Aslan and Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Ken Druker for an intimate pre-concert discussion on the history of Argentinean music and culture, along with insight into the evening’s performance.
